Background

In our family we have a number of us who make hand crafted items and started to attend craft fairs and similar events to try and sell some of our items and hopefully make a little money. We thoroughly enjoyed this as it meant we could paint, knit or craft more to continue our hobbies.

Myself and my sister own and operate two websites and came up with the idea of setting a third one up to sell our families crafts....the natural progression of that idea was to open it up to a wider audience! We decided to build the website selling a variety of handcrafted items and to be an affordable 'storefront' for crafters to sell some of their products. We don't see this site as replacing attendance at craft fairs etc. but rather to compliment it.

How does it work?

We have tried to keep it as simple as we possibly can. When you have decided you would like to join us we ask you to sign a simple agreement, designed to protect both you and us and therefore the reputation of the site. You pay an initial set-up fee of £10 to cover the initial marketing leaflets and set-up costs.

Once this has been received you simply send us digital photographs and descriptions, including postage costs, of your items and we post them on the website, usually within 48 hours but we always e mail you to let you know. You then sit back and wait. If your item is no longer available then you need to let us know as soon as possible so we can remove it and save our customers disappointment.

If your item sells we collect the customers payment and pay you less our agreed  20% commission then transfer the money, including postage, to you. We ask that as soon as we notify you that we have the cleared payment you post the item to the customer. 

Marketing

We do the majority of the marketing but part of the agreement is that you distribute leaflets with the web address to people you sell things to at craft fairs. We  also carryout an ad campain through sponsored links.

Are you eligible?

If the items you wish to sell are primarily hand made or decorated then yes you can sell your items via the site. The only other criteria is that you are willing and able to supply us with up-to-date information and descriptions of the items. It might be that you take commissions, if so then you must state and maintain the agreed timeframes. The only way this site will remain successful is for items to be of a high standard and reasonably priced as well as them receiving good customer service. This will bring about repeat business and positive word of mouth reputation.

It has been drawn up in order to maintain the reputation of this site and all the crafters associated with it.
